Smoking Cessation

The Health Act 2006 prohibits smoking in all public premises, including workplaces and vehicles from 1st July 2007. For details of UCLs Policy on smoking please refer to the new UCL smoking Policy document.

Group and one to one Support

Getting support to quit smoking increases your chances of successfully quitting by 4 times. Stop Smoking advisers will talk to you about your options and can provide a letter of support to your GP for aids such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy and Zyban , if they are suitable for you.

If you prefer, 1:1 sessions can be booked with your local  Stop Smoking Service. These sessions are arranged with a pharmacist in your area at a time convenient to you. You will be seen for 5 weekly sessions and these sessions can be tailored to your individual needs. For UCL Staff and their family members only, One to One support is also available through UCL’s Employee Assistance Programme, who provide:

  • Smoking Cessation Pack - providing practical general information on smoking cessation
  • Over the Telephone Support - via a smoking cessation specialist the EAP are able to provide one to one support over the telephone to assist individuals with smoking cessation, if appropriate. Those committed to giving up smoking can have up to six individually structured sessions over the telephone.
  • Just call 0800 243458 and say that you are an employee of UCL (remember your family members can use the service too).
