HR Going for Green


What are UCL HR doing to be more green?

HR's environmental team 'Going for Green' took part in the Green Impact accreditation scheme in 2011 and achieved the Bronze Award. The following year we achieved the Silver Award. More information about the Green Impact programme can be found here:

HR Green Statement

We are committed to supporting environmental and sustainability initiatives at UCL. We will do this by:

  • Taking part in the annual Green Impact programme;
  • Continually work towards identifying our negative environmental effects and reducing them through:
    • Waste reduction
    • Purchasing – with consideration of environmental factors
    • Energy and water reduction
    • Minimising travel
    • Hygiene, health and safety

HR Green Actions for Change

We have identified 11 action points, to help us achieve our aims and objectives. In summary, they involve facilitating improvements to the heating, ventillation, insulation and energy use to reduce wastage. For example, requesting changes to the toilets due to excessive waste of paper towels and poorly fitted windows at Torrington Place. We are also using our influence to update the UCL all staff induction to include green awareness.
