Leading on Diversity - for managers in grades 7-10

The workshop aims to add value to the function of managers by increasing their ability to harness the latent benefits to be found in the diversity of their staff.

Outline:
• the law and theory of equality and diversity in a management context
• an interactive scenario-based learning exercise featuring actors

What it Means to be a DEOLO

New DEOLOs introductory course giving an overview of the role with some equalities case study discussion.

Gender Equality Training

The course will cover UCL's Gender Equality Scheme, issues faced by women in UCL, dismantling institutional and attitudinal discrimination and the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter..

Race Awareness Training

It is intended that all DEOLOs will have received race awareness training. Training days on race awareness will be arranged for all new DEOLOs. Heads of Department have been asked to prioritise this training.

Religion/belief and Sexual Orientation Training

The training session addresses the issues raised by the new legislation introduced in December 2003, outlawing discrimination, victimisation and harassment in employment on the grounds of sexual orientation and religion or belief.

Disability Equality Training

This training session aims to build confidence and the ability to challenge disability discrimination.
