Basic Salary for Senior Academic General Practitioner's Appointed on or after 1 August 2005.
This document applies to Senior Academic General Practitioner's appointed on or after 1 August 2005 . For these purposes, the date of appointment to the terms of the new contract will be regarded as the date on which the post was offered .
All the rates of pay set out in this Schedule are in line with the recommendations of the Universities and Colleges Employers Association's Clinical Academic Staff Salaries Committee which translates the Government's implementation of the recommendations of the Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration (DDRB) for NHS consultants. Future uplifts (usually annually) will be effective from 1 April or on such other dates/at such other intervals as may be varied from time to time.
Basic Pay and Pay Thresholds
On commencement, the value of basic salary - and of payments for any additional Programmed Activities - will normally be the first of the thresholds set out in Table 1.
Table 1: Pay Thresholds
London Allowance : £2162
|Threshold||Years completed as a consultant||Basic salary at April 2012 rates||Basic salary at April 2013 rates||Period before eligibility for next threshold|
A Senior Academic General Practitioner will become eligible for additional pay thresholds at the intervals set out in Table 1.
The value of pay thresholds for a part-time Senior Academic General Practitioner will be pro-rata to the levels in Table 1, based on the number of agreed weekly Programmed Activities in the Senior Academic General Practitioners Integrated Job Plan as a proportion of the ten minimum required Programmed Activities for a full-time appointment at Senior Academic General Practitioner level.
Threshold progression will be dependent upon the annual review and submission of a signed job plan, agreeing duties and responsibilities, to cover a 12-month period from the anniversary date of the clinical academics transfer to the terms of the new contract.
Additional Programmed Activities
The value of an Additional Programmed Activity (APA) is 10% of basic salary.
Where a local Clinical Excellence Award or Discretionary Points are held, the value of an APA is increased by 10% of the value of the Clinical Excellence Award or Discretionary Points received.
Where a higher Clinical Excellence Award is held, the value of an APA is increased by 10% of the value of the maximum level of a local Clinical Excellence Award (i.e. CEA Level 9 local award).
Where a Distinction Award is held, the value of an APA is increased by 10% of the value of the maximum Discretionary Point (i.e. Level 8 local award).
