UCL's implementation of the new Clinical Consultant Academic Contract

Clinical Consultant Academics were written to in January 2004 to invite expressions of commitment from those who wish to accept the new contract and similarly to be informed of those not wishing to accept the new contract.

Key dates for the implementation of the new contracts is set out below:

Formal commitment to the new contract by 30 January 2004	Basic pay increases under the new contract will be backdated to 1 April 2003, conditional upon an integrated Job Plan being agreed by 31 March 2004
Formal commitment to the new contract between 2 February 2004 and 31 March 2004	Basic pay increases will be backdated by three months from the date on which the commitment was given. Backdating will be conditional upon an integrated Job Plan being agreed within three months of the date of commitment.
Formal commitment to the contract after 31 March 2004	Entitlement to an appropriate basic pay increase from the date of commitment but not entitled to any back pay.

** An exception will be made where a deadline is not met for reasons beyond the Clinical Academic's control.

** In each case, Clinical Academics may choose any shorter period of backdating if they so wish.
