Annual Leave
This Policy is only applicable to UCL staff seconded to Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan
-
The leave year runs from the date of employment.
- Teaching staff are entitled to 40 working days
annual leave per year (pro rata for part-time staff) in addition to Kazakhstan
national holidays and additional non-working days.
- Non-teaching staff are entitled to 27 working
days annual leave, additional to Kazakhstan national holidays and additional
non-working days.
- Leave for teaching staff will be taken at such times as may be arranged in consultation with the Dean of the SoE or the Head of the CPS or person deputised by him/her during the university holidays. It is UCL policy that employees take annual leave during the currency of the leave year. It is the duty of the Dean of the SoE or the Head of the CPS to ensure that employees, as far as possible, take all annual leave due in the leave year. No payment will be made in lieu of leave not taken except in respect of the year of termination of employment. Leave may be carried forward to the next leave year with the prior agreement of the Dean of the SoE or the Head of the CPS.

- Additional Non-working Days - any NU closure days. There is no entitlement to UCL closure days.
- The proportion of the holiday period to be granted for service of less than twelve months during a member's first and last holiday years will be as follows:
