3rd Scientific Meeting

The 3rd Scientific Meeting of the Head & Neck Optical Diagnostics Society was held in Innsbruck, Austria - 10th–14th May 2011. For the first time our Annual Scientific Meeting was held in association with the International Photodynamic Association (IPA) and European Platform for Photodynamic Medicine (EPPM) to enhance the interdisciplinary aspects of optical diagnostics and other photodynamic applications. • The main theme of this Scientific Meeting was very much about the oncological and non-oncological applications of optical diagnostics in the head and neck. This was incorporated with all phototherapeutic aspects including oncological and non-oncological applications as well as novel developments and future perspectives regarding chemical, biological, molecular, biophysical and medical aspects with the focus on their translation into the daily clinical practice.
• Scientific Programme included the Chairman’s lecture and other invited lectures covering the recent advances in optical diagnostics in the head and neck. Broad space was given to short communications and poster discussions.

• Prizes were given to the best oral communication. Other awards included Chairman's Prize, HNODS Prize and The Fellow-in-Training Prize.
