HIST2902: Second-Year Long Essay

  • Course unit value: 1
  • Available to: Second-year History Department and BA Ancient World students only
  • Assessment: An extended essay of 7,500 words

Students write this essay on a topic related to a full-year History course taken in the same year. It is designed to develop students’ capacity to work independently and to use primary and secondary sources in the construction of a historical argument. This unit is a key element of students’ progression and invaluable preparation for the final year.

All students taking HIST2902 should attend the briefing meetings with the Departmental Tutor that will be held in October and January.

The first meeting will be an introductory session. The second meeting will focus on the structuring and presentation of the essay.

Further information is available on the Moodle Page for HIST2902.
