UCLHISTORY 2013 issue out now

The latest issue of the newsletter for UCL History alumni is out now - and it's a packed issue.
There's a special report on a reunion of the class of 1967, while a PhD graduate of the Department remembers her '15 minutes of fame' as a biographer of Hannah More and William Wilberforce. Tim Barnes of UCL Advances traces his path from medieval history student to leading-edge engagement with business and championing of entrepreneurship (and also shares some memories of Professor d'Avray...)

Margaret (Peggy) Drower MBE

One of the best-known and best-loved former members of the History Department has sadly passed away. Margaret (Peggy) Drower was just short of her 101st birthday. She studied Egyptology at UCL before joining the History Department in 1937 and establishing the the pre-hellenistic Near East as a key part of the History curriculum.
Professor Jimmy Burns

We are sorry to hear of the death of Professor JH ('Jimmy') Burns. Many alumni will remember Professor Burns from his 25 years in the Department as Reader in the History of Political Thought (1961-66), Professor of the History of Political Thought, 1966-86 and Head of Department (1970-75).

New book on Wilberforce
