The annual iBSc fair is the showcase to attract second year medical students to the delights of doing an integrated degree in subjects as varied at International Health, Medical Anthropology, Science and Technology Studies and of course, History of Medicine. History of Medicine is one of the oldest integrated degrees, having been established in the 1970s. All UCL Medical Students are expected to take an intercalated BSc, usually during the third year of their MBBS programme.

The 2012 fair was held on 25 January and the History of Medicine corner was one of the most colourful. As well as the usual 'freebies' such as postcards, booklets and a bowl of sweets, we peppered the space with historical images and historical medical instruments including an early 19th century amputation kit and one of the first ever stethoscopes, developed in 1816 by a French physician, René Laennec.

Current and past iBSc History of Medicine students took control of the exhibition space and hopefully will have made a good job of attracting students for next year's programme.
