Current research
Working on the Gemini twin birth cohort examining environmental and genetic influences on children's physical activity levels, sleep and sedentary behaviour.

I completed a BSc (Hons) Physiology, Sport Science and Nutrition in 2002, then worked as a research assistant on the 'MAGIC' intervention to promote physical activity and reduce obesity in preschool children. I was awarded a research fellowship by the Yorkhill Children's Foundation in 2004 to carry out research into the determinants of physical activity in preschool children, then began a Yorkhill Children's Foundation PhD studentship examining the relationship between physical activity and motor and cognitive function in young children. During this I worked on a 5 month project at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, developing an evaluation framework for the Scottish Government childhood activity promotion scheme play@home, before joining the Health Behaviour Research Centre in 2009.
