Green Impact Award 2013 Gold CEGE

  Green Impact Award April 24th 2013

The NUS Green Impact programme has been in progress at UCL for the second year running. The programme encourages teams to undertake a number of actions to reduce their environmental impacts - thereby contributing to UCL's overall environmental sustainability programme. In 2011/12, 19 UCL teams signed up and completed actions as part of Green Impact. In 2012/13, 29 teams have got involved in the programme and undertaken actions ranging from the purchase of sustainable food to the use of UCL's waste reuse scheme, WarpIt. It's TRANSPORT day of Green Week UCL!

18 October 2012

October 18th will have a host of transport related activities in the Quad and South Cloisters.

The timings of the lead cycle rides and maintenance workshops have now been confirmed, see the timings page.

  • Make your own smoothie on a bike with Charity Bike Build's smoothie bike
  • Free cycle maintenance from Dr Bike (LCC and Camden Council) 
  • See the Met Police for bike tagging.
  • Try the exchanging places experience - get into the cab of a lorry and look in the mirror to see how drivers of large vehicles view you as a cyclist/pedestrian.
  • London Cycle Campaign will be providing lead cycle rides
  • At the nearby Gower Place Barclays Cycle Hire stand the Roadshow will be providing information on the scheme. 
  • Tell us how you travel to UCL with Mapping for Change (South Cloisters).
  • Pedal-powered cinema where cyclists will power the audiovisuals! The film will start at 6:30 and will be shown in the portico. (Film TBC.)
  • In addition to our activities, UCLU will host an Ethics and Environment Forum.
