Busy roads can have negative effects on people's mobility, wellbeing and health. The Street Mobility and Network Accessibility project has developed tools to measure and value the impacts of busy roads on local people. This free conference will tell practitioners, policy-makers, community groups, the public, and academics about the three-year multi-disciplinary research project. The project leader, Dr Jennifer Mindell, will give an overview of community severance, explaining its importance in relation to health, particularly among older people. Researchers from UCL’s Population Health Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Built Environment Faculties will present some of the tools and research findings. The conference will also include the experiences and knowledge of local communities from a case study area and other speakers, including Valerie Shawcross CBE, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport. Lunch will be provided.
