Who can attend
Everyone who receives a degree or graduate diploma from UCL is eligible to attend a graduation ceremony (this unfortunately does not apply to UCL Postgraduate Certificates, UCL Graduate Diplomas at undergraduate level, UCL College Diplomas and UCL Foundation Courses).
Undergraduate students are invited to attend the UCL Graduation Ceremonies pre-award provided they have an end date of 2017. However, this is subject to them having a conferred award on their student record by 01 July 2017. Any undergraduate student who does not have a conferred award by 01 July 2017 will automatically have their attendance and tickets cancelled, their payment refunded and will be given the opportunity to attend a Graduation Ceremony in 2018.
Any undergraduate given the option to choose an Ordinary Degree or resit might also have their attendance for 2017 Graduation Ceremonies cancelled. Please refer to your department for details about Ordinary Degrees.
- Postgraduate Taught
Taught Graduate students are invited to attend the 2017 UCL Graduation Ceremonies post-award. In order to be invited you must have a conferred award on your record by 01 April 2017. Taught Graduates with an award conferred on their student record after 01 April 2017 will be invited to attend the 2018 Graduation Ceremonies.
- Postgraduate Research
Research Graduate students are selected for the 2017 UCL Graduation Ceremonies based on their award date and when the award is issued. To be eligible to attend the Graduation Ceremonies in 2017, your degree must be awarded on, or before, the 28th April 2017. Research Graduates with an award conferred on their student record after 28 April 2017 will be invited to attend the 2018 Graduation Ceremonies.
If you have any queries, please contact the Research Degrees team.
PGCE students must have had an award on their record by 01 April 2017 in order to attend a 2017 UCL Graduation Ceremony. PGCE students with an award conferred on their record after 01 April 2017 will be invited to attend the 2018 Graduation Ceremonies.
Changes to your Registration Status
- Resitting Students
To check if you are able to attend a 2017 UCL Graduation Ceremony, please contact the Student Support and Events team.
- Course Changes
Students registered on a four year undergraduate programme (expecting to complete their studies in June 2018) who wish to change to a three year programme to complete in June 2017 and attend the 2017 UCL Graduation Ceremonies, must have the change active on Portico by 01 April 2017.
Students on a three year undergraduate programme (due to complete their studies in June 2017) who decide to change to a four year programme (completing their studies in 2018) after applying to attend their Graduation Ceremony will need to cancel their attendance by 4pm (BST) Friday 09 June 2017.
If following the Exam Board meetings students are advised they will be awarded a BSc/BEng and cannot continue to the fourth year, or elect to be awarded a Bachelors degree, they will be unable to attend the 2017 Graduations Ceemonies and will have to wait and apply to attend the 2018 Graduation Ceremonies.
Students on interruption of studies will not be invited to attend a UCL Graduation Ceremony until they return to their studies and their student record is updated to an Enrolled status. If you have any queries regarding your attendance, please contact the Student Support and Events team.
