The Promise and Pitfalls of Multisectoral Global Funds: The Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund - Khalid Koser

Over the past decade, multisectoral global funds (MGFs) have emerged as innovative and important new mechanisms for the financing of development and other global priorities. The Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), is the newest MGF, with a focus on preventing violent extremism. In this lecture, GCERF's Executive Director will reflect on his experience of establishing a new global institution, its initial results and future potential, and overcoming the challenges ahead.

Dr Khalid Koser is Executive Director of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF). He is Non-Resident Fellow at the Lowy Institute, Non-Resident Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institution, and Associate Fellow at Chatham House. He is Extraordinary Professor in Conflict, Peace, and Security at the University of Maastricht. Dr Koser is chair of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Migration, and editor of the Journal of Refugee Studies. He was awarded the MBE for services to asylum seekers and refugees in the Queen's 2014 New Years Honours List.
