UCL's German Department in the RAE 2008
The 2008 RAE (=Research Assessment Exercise) confirmed our standing as one of the UK's premier German Departments. Some highlights:
- In terms of research judged to be 'world-leading' (4*), we were awarded the highest score in the unit of assessment, along with some other top-ranked Departments, for example at the University of Oxford.
- In terms of research judged to be 'world-leading' (4*) and 'internationally excellent' (3*), as well as average ranking, we were awarded the second highest score in the unit of assessment, along with other top-ranked Departments, for example at the University of Cambridge.
- UCL German submitted all of its full-time permanent staff to the RAE.
- Our research grant income was found to be exceptionally high among German Departments assessed in the RAE, and our level of research student recruitment among the highest in the country.
- A ranked listing of all German Departments, showing you how we compare nationwide, can be found here.
