Dissertation

All students on the MA Gender, Society and Representation programme write a Dissertation on an approved topic.

The Dissertation is produced in your own time and takes the form of a scholarly report, in English, 12,000 words for students on the taught pathway, and 18,000 words for students on the research pathway.

Students on the Diploma programme do not write a dissertation.

While in principle the choice of topic is your own, possible options should be discussed with your Personal Tutor, who will direct you to an appropriate Supervisor or will contact a likely Supervisor for you.

The definition of the topic must be settled in consultation with the Dissertation Supervisor and approved by her or him in the beginning of Term Two.

The compulsory Research Methods course is a key part of your preparation for the Dissertation.

The deadline for submission is 2 September 2013.

The Dissertation Handbook provides detailed information and is available to students enrolled in the programme via Moodle.
