22 February 2012 at 4pm, followed by reception.
‘How Ageing Evolves: Reconciling mechanistic and evolutionary theories’
We are delighted to announce the following speakers:
David Gems (Institute of Healthy Ageing, UCL): ‘New perspectives on the evolution of aging: the bloated soma theory’
and
Daryl Shanley (Institute for Ageing and Health, University of Newcastle): ‘Systems development of the disposable soma’
Venue: The Natural History Museum, Flett Lecture Theatre
Please remember the early start at 4pm and enter the NHM to get to the Flett Theatre via the Exhibition Road entrance –come through the tunnel as the road is blocked on top!!
(After you leave the turnstiles at South Kensington,
turn sharply right and go under the streets through the tunnel, leave at the
exit marked Natural History Museum and at street level turn left and go north
(towards the park) until you come to the big flag with a letter N on it which
marks the Exhibition Road entrance – staff there can direct you to the Flett
