Definition of Words and Phrases

University: University College London, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT and its campus locations.

Applicant: A person applying to be accepted for a programme of study with the University.

Programme: The programme of study at the University to which a non-refundable application fee applies.<>

Non-Refundable Application Processing Fee: The payment required as a pre-requisite to the processing of an application to study at the University.

Fees and Payment      

It is the responsibility of the Applicant to ensure that the University's non-refundable application processing fee is paid.

The payment must be made when requested during the application process.

The application will not be processed until the non-refundable application processing fee is received by UCL.

The payment of any sums intended to be in respect of non-refundable application processing fee by or on behalf of the Applicant does not in itself indicate the existence of a contract between the University and the Applicant, nor does it guarantee a successful application. A contract for programme of study provision shall only come into being when a successful Applicant is formally accepted as a Student and registers (enrols) on the programme of study.

Overpayments and Refunds

Refunds will only be made under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Academic Registrar unless an applicant can demonstrate they paid more than once in error in which case a refund of the excess will automatically be made

Rejection of the application i.e. failure on the part of an applicant to secure a place, is not sufficient to merit a refund.

The University will make any refund payable to the card account or bank account from which the original payment was received.

Currency Conversion Costs, Bank Charges etc.

All payments made through this online payment facility will be made in Pounds Sterling (GBP). Any currency conversion costs or other charges incurred in making the payment or in processing a refund shall be borne by the Applicant and shall not be deductible from the amounts due to the University.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and to be construed in accordance with English Law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
