FINANCIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (FIS)

Welcome to the FIS Website

FIS is UCL’s Financial Information System. It is used to process and capture a wide range of financial data to facilitate financial management at UCL.  FIS is used to process and authorise the purchase and payment for goods and services (including electronic ordering and invoicing) and expense claims; processing sales transactions, cash management, managing Research Grants and Contracts; Estates and Facilities procurement, accounting for capital projects and for financial reporting. The FIS team are responsible for providing support and guidance to the UCL user community.

Responsibilities and services include providing:

Training in how to use the system with comprehensive documentation available on this website together with computer-based training, drop in sessions and on-line help available from within the software.
  • A helpdesk to provide to support for users of the system.
  • Systems administration to ensure that only authorised users have access to appropriate functions and data.
  • Access to on-line catalogues to facilitate the procurement process.
  • Maintaining UCL’s Chart of Accounts and associated reporting structures according to Finance Division requirements. 
  • Correction of system problems.
  • Functional and technical support and development to meet the changing needs of UCL.
  • UCL specific reporting, where possible this will be in electronic form.
  • Cost justified upgrades to the standard system functionality including interfaces with other UCL systems. 
  • Upgrades to the system to capitalise on new features and to ensure support from Oracle.
