Elizabeth Dearnley

Elizabeth Dearnley holds a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship within the Department of French. She is conducting a three-year research project, Mapping the European Breton Lai, which traces the journeys made by Breton lais (fantastical short verse narratives) across medieval Europe. She also teaches medieval literature and the history of fairy tales.

Elizabeth has previously worked as a journalist in Shanghai, before completing her MPhil and PhD at the University of Cambridge, in which she focused on French-English translation in late medieval England. She has recently finished a book based on this research, Middle English Translators' Prologues.
