Recyclable Office Wastes

The majority of office wastes (and laboratory wastes) are recyclable. Recyclable wastes are to be put into bins with clear bin liners. These are provided by and removed by the cleaners and taken to red wheelie bins. The sorts of things which are recyclable include:

• Paper (any colour, including staples and paperclips) - see paper and cardboard
• Cardboard
• Books and magazines
• Empty plastic drinks bottles
• Drinks cans
• Clean milk bottles/yoghourt cartons
• Glass – one bottle per clear bag

In fact, it is easier to state what is NOT recyclable:

• Food wastes (see non-recyclable wastes)
• Polystyrene wastes (non-recyclable wastes)
• Batteries
• Clinical waste
• Chemical and solvent wastes
• Radioactive waste
• Computers
• Electrical equipment
• Bulky items and furniture
