What Will I Be Charged For and How Much Will It Cost?

The costs for routine disposals are in general recovered centrally, and so these costs are not passed on to client departments; the services are free of charge at point of use. Charges are levied to cover the costs associated with the provision of non-routine services, typically where:

The waste from one department may not arise in another department. By example, one department my produce waste which needs to go into a skip whereas another may not and so waste which goes into a skip is chargeable.
Additional resources are required to dispose of a type of waste. An example of this would be where the quantity of a particular type of waste is so great as to require an additional resource to be brought in to assist with its disposal.
Failure to comply with the guidance contained in these pages gives rise to waste arisings which require additional resources to be expended in clearing the wastes.

Confidential Wastes

Confidential papers: routine disposals are free of charge. Larger quantities are subject to payment.
Computer media (floppy discs, CDs, DVDs etc) and hard drives requiring confidential destruction: please contact the Customer Services Centre in order that a price can be given.

The Disposal of Hazardous Waste Service can arrange for a quotation to be provided for the collection and disposal of non-routine hazardous wastes.
