Lost and Found Property
Most lost property enquiries along with the handling and recording of found property for the main UCL Campus are dealt with at the Security Operations Centre, Foster Court, Malet Place, which is open 24 hours a day.
The exceptions for this are the Bloomsbury Theatre, Bloomsbury Fitness Centre and Cruciform Building.
For Bloomsbury Theatre enquires should be made of the Box Office, Telephone 020 7388 8822.
The Bloomsbury Fitness Centre can be contacted on 0207 679 7221.
The Cruciform Building Reception can be contacted on 0207 679 6888
Reporting Lost Property
For general enquiries the best means for UCL students, staff and users to register the loss of property is by emailing a Lost Property Enquiry Sheet to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those with urgent enquiries, these can be dealt with by calling in at the Security Operations Desk, Foster Court, Malet Place or via telephone to Security Operations on internal extension 32152 (020 7679 2152).
It should be noted it can take time for some items that have been found to reach the Security Department as arrangements for the transfer of property from buildings and departments can vary. Registering property as lost will offer the best chance of identifying the owner.
Claiming your Property
If you have been notified your property has been handed in then it can be collected from the Security Operations Office in Foster Court, Malet Place at any time providing ownership can be verified and identification produced (usually a UCL ID Card).
If you are unable to attend Foster Court then alternative arrangements can be made through contacting the Security Administrator on extension 33263 (020 7679 3263) during office hours or via email to email@example.com.
UCL students, staff and users who find property are asked to hand this to a Building Attendant, Security Officer or the Office Administrator.
Where something of apparent high value is found then the Security Operations Centre should be contacted for an Officer to attend as soon as possible to take possession of the item.
Identifiable Found Property
A member of the Security Operations Team will endeavour to contact the owner and arrange collection.
If calls or emails are unsuccessful then after 28 days the property will placed into longer term storage prior to disposal.
Property where the Owner cannot be readily identified
Any property not reclaimed after 4 weeks will be transferred to the longer term storage facility for a further 4 week period prior to disposal by UCL.
Access to items in long term storage will only be available between Monday to Friday 0800 - 1600hrs.
Perishable goods or items considered unhygienic or a health hazard
Where such items are handed in they will be recorded as found property but immediately destroyed.
