Wates House is to be comprehensively remodelled and extended to create a dedicated home for the Bartlett School of Architecture.
The design aspires to ‘humanise’ Wates House by opening up its insular nature and re-organising the building into three zones: fabrication and making, shared social and teaching spaces, and studios and offices. In doing so the project will:
• Improve space utilisation (provide a desk for every student)
• Support the unique academic environment of The Bartlett School of Architecture
• Create a more open, accessible, dynamic and welcoming place to study and work, befitting the international reputation of the School
This project is under development, more information and further updates will be available shortly on the Transforming UCL website, coming soon in May 2014.
