Personal information
Sebastian Gehrig obtained his MPhil in Historical Studies from the University of Cambridge and his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg. From 2009-12, he taught Modern German and European History at the University of Heidelberg and was a research fellow at the Karl-Jaspers-Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies. His research interests include 20th century Germany and Europe, national identity, the history of constitutional law, social and everyday history of law, social movements and left-wing terrorism, and Sino-German relations. Currently, he is working on a book manuscript titled Coping with the Present. Constitutional Law Making, Citizenship, and National Identity in the Cold War Germanys.
