Personal Information
Pola Zafra joined ESPS as a postgraduate teaching assistant in 2010. Pola graduated from University College London in 2008 with a BA in European Social and Political Studies with First Class Honours, where she took the Politics Stream. She received her MSc in International Relations (Research) with Distinction from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2009. Pola is currently completing her PhD at the Department of International Politics in Aberystwyth University; where she is funded by an EH Carr and an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship. She has taught courses on political philosophy and war studies while at Aberystwyth, as well as convening the Aberystwyth University- Security Research Group.
Research Interests
Pola’s research encompasses the field of Security Studies and International Relations Theory. Her work focuses on the development of military alliances after the Cold War. She places particular emphasis on the role of trans-national threats and changed logics of security cooperation inside regional bodies.
