Below you will find information for Registration Week and before: meetings and module registration procedures in ESPS and in the departments of your chosen subjects. Please refer to the Bloomsbury campus map for details of how to find venues, or use the UCL Campus Route Finder.
Before term starts
Before you arrive at UCL, you are required to:
During Registration Week
During Registration Week you will:
- Attend the First Year Welcome Meeting at 10:00 on Monday 24 September in Gordon Street (25) E28 Harrie Massey Lecture Theatre.
- Attend your individual appointment with one of the ESPS tutors on Monday 24 September.
- Attend the preliminary meeting of the first year core module ESPS1001 on Wednesday 26 September at 14:00 in Roberts Building 508.
- Attend the Welcome Talks session on Wednesday 26 September at 14:30, in Roberts Building 508. This will involve talks from UCL's Voluntary Service Unit and UCL Careers Service as well as talks from students in other year groups and from ESPS graduates. This is also where you will meet your mentor - an experienced ESPS student.
- Enjoy yourself at the joint ESPS and Philosophy Department party on Wednesday 26 September at 16:30 on the Portico Steps in the Front Quad. This is where new students and those in different year groups first get to know one another.
- Attend the Transition Programme Information Session on Thursday 27 September at 10:30 in the Bloomsbury Theatre. The first few days of term often seem hectic. To help you, and in addition to your personal tutor, UCL operates the 'Transition at UCL' programme. This is a student-led support network to help new students adjust to university and overcome initial challenges and anxieties in consultation with their peers. As part of this programme, several 'Mentors' - experienced ESPS students - will guide new students through the features of university life and academic study in a series of talks and informal gatherings held throughout the first year.http://www.ucl.ac.uk/transition/getting-started. You will hear from various UCL support services about available support including: rights and advice, UCLU, dean of students, counselling, health centre, voluntary services.
- Attend welcome meetings and registration sessions in the departments of your chosen modules. You will visit the departments of your chosen subjects to familiarise yourself with their locations and to find out where the teaching will take place, and if there is a reading list or other set of instructions to be noted before teaching begins. Remember to check your obligations with the departments of your chosen subjects.
- Register your modules on Portico. Instructions for registering your modules on Portico can be found here. If you experience any problems in connection with module registration, please email Jenny with the relevant module codes, not the module titles.
- Check that your timetable is clash-free using the UCL Common Timetable. The UCL Common Timetable displays your personal timetable week by week, and lets you find out what is being taught, when, where and by whom across UCL.
