Are you tempted by Philosophy, Politics and Economics or International Relations, but aware of the importance of a second language in today’s integrated Europe? Are you a talented linguist keen to become fluent but looking for more from your university education than just the language skills? Are you enthusiastic about a humanities subject, but aspiring to something broader (and more employable) than a straight three-year humanities degree?
European Social and Political Studies (ESPS) is a challenging, flexible and diverse four-year degree programme at a university known for academic innovation, open access and the quality of its teaching. It combines specialisation in any one of nine humanities and social sciences, with a broad base in European history, law, politics and philosophy, fluency in a European language, and the chance to spend a year in a continental European university. Students gain not only from UCL’s world-class teaching system and the insights of its renowned humanities, language and social sciences scholars, but also from the expertise of their European counterparts.
ESPS attracts applicants from many different countries; the degree produces graduates who go on to undertake research or professional training and take up employment in a range of fields such as journalism, government or business, in the UK and internationally.
