Planetary Geology: An Introduction
A second edition of Planetary Geology: An Introduction book will be published by Dunedin Academic Press at the end of June 2013 More...
GEOLG022 Hydrogeology and Groundwater Resources
AIMS
The course presents the principles of physical hydrogeology (aquifer hydraulic properties, groundwater hydraulics, aquifer investigations, recharge and river-aquifer interactions) and demonstrates their application to groundwater resources management through consideration of aquifer water balances and an introduction to groundwater flow modelling.
OUTCOMES
Knowledge and understanding of the scientific basis for groundwater resources assessment and management.
CONTENT
Elements of a groundwater resources
assessment, recharge, groundwater flow and groundwater storage, aquifer
tests (equilibrium and transient conditions), groundwater models,
groundwater chemistry (natural characteristics and contaminants), and
groundwater vulnerability and protection.
