Biography:
Catalina obtained her undergraduate degrees in Anthropology (2003) and Psychology (2007) and an MA in Anthropology (2004) from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. Back in her home country of Colombia she worked for four years in qualitative health research on vector transmitted diseases with indigenous and peasant populations. In 2007 she came to London to study the MSc Health & Society: Social Epidemiology within the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at UCL with a Chevening Scholarship. Catalina is currently undertaking PhD studies in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health funded by ORS-UCL and Colfuturo.

Research Interests:
Catalina’s current research project uses an asset-based approach to investigate trends through time and regional variations of socioeconomic inequalities in women’s sexual and reproductive health in Colombia between the years 1990 to 2005, a period of health sector reform and internal civil conflict.
