UCL Green Community
Carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the planet naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. Burning fossil fuels and clearing forests increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere and increases temperatures. We are already seeing changes: glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitats (with many becoming extinct), and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing.
We have caused the problem and we can – and need – to solve it. Small changes to our daily routines can make a big difference. The time to take action is now!
UCL Green Community
The UCL Green Community has a network of staff and student volunteer Green Champions. They work together to make UCL a greener place to work and study, ensuring that their department or building is as environmentally friendly as possible. The Green Champions are your lines of communication to the people that have the power to change things. The Lead Green Champions are present at Environmental Sustainability Steering Group Meetings and will raise issues at those meetings on behalf of the GC network.
Visit the Green Champions Articles page to find out what we've been doing.
