The event was organised by the National Scientific Committee of Legambiente - the main italian environmental NGO, highly respected by policy makers and the industrial world as well - of which I have been a member for almost a decade.

Over 50 people were present and the discussant included the director of the italian Federation of Waste Management industries, the director of a Regional Authority  for the control of waste manangement, the technical personel who wrote the plan for the management of Production Waste in the Campania Region (Naples) and an analysist of the use of biomass for energy purpose.

To the discussion participated also the President of Veolia Italia. The audience included representatives of the reprocessing industry, and technical personnel from the national and regional protection agencies.

The comparison between the Enlgish and italian situation was found appropriate and several of the reccomandations issued in the EI Waste Report were discussed as relevant for the national and regional infrastructural development.
