Responding to Environmental Complexity: A Showcase of UCL Research
17th & 18th June 2013
We are
facing environmental problems that challenge our well-being both within
specific communities and globally. It is widely recognised that these are
wicked problems arising from the complexity of environmental and
socio-environmental systems. Tackling these problems requires research that
crosses disciplinary boundaries and breaks down traditional silos in
approaching the analysis and resolution of these issues. UCL has been at the forefront of such
inter-disciplinary research and has embedded this within its four Grand
Challenges of Sustainable Cities, Global Health, Intercultural Interaction and
Human Wellbeing. This is also reflected in the varied work of all UCL
institutes working on environmental issues. This conference – the first in an annual series –
will showcase the best of the environmental research that is currently being
done in the university.
