Water Security
Co-Director: Richard
Taylor, Department of Geography
Population growth, rising consumption and climate change greatly complicate management of the world's freshwater resources. Improving access to safe water and sanitation remains a fundamental task in alleviating poverty and supporting human well-being. Increasing freshwater withdrawals and pollution together with changing spatial and temporal patterns of precipitation, and rising temperatures associated with climate change affect freshwater ecosystems and the environmental services that they provide. UCL researchers are working to develop new knowledge and tools to assess and develop solutions to the pressing global problems of water security across a range of disciplines.
