After completing his first degree in Psychology in 1993 and following a PGCE, Gavin worked as a primary school teacher in Northamptonshire before completing his professional training in Educational Psychology at the University of Bristol in 2000. Since then he has been an Educational Psychologist in Coventry, and a Specialist Senior EP in Warwickshire, where he led projects into social inclusion and behaviour. In 2006 Gavin became a Senior EP in Cambridgeshire, where he leads the Cambridge team.

Gavin completed his professional doctorate at the University of Bristol in 2011. Gavin's current interests include the use of solution-focused techniques, the management of organisational change, inclusion and pupil participation, supervision and social and emotional development.
