Emily Hinson

Having completed a combined degree in philosophy, psychology, sociology and literature at Bradford University in 1994, Emily worked in industry for 2 years before completing a PGCE at Goldsmiths College in 1997. Emily then converted her degree to psychology at the Open University while teaching in London and then Reading. Following 7 years primary teaching experience which included the role of SENCo and Deputy Head teacher, Emily undertook her professional training at UCL in 2004-2005.

Emily joined Bracknell Forest Educational Psychology service in 2005. She led the service as interim Principal Educational Psychologist from 2013 to 2015 and is now working as a Senior EP with responsibility for developing commissioned services.

Emily is currently completing her Doctorate in Educational Psychology (DEd Psy) at UCL and is conducting research on the processes and impact of a group consultation approach for family support workers. Emily’s interests also include the development of consultative practices within a traded service model as well as developing reflective team approaches within Pupil Referral Units.
