For admission to the research degree programme,
applicants should have, or expect to obtain before entry, a suitable
Master's degree in Economics or a related subject and must demonstrate
that they are qualified to proceed to research work. Your application will be rejected if you do not have such a masters degree.
Admission
to the MRes/MPhil/PhD programme depends not only on the candidate's
qualifications as reflected by grades, reference letters, GRE scores,
statement of research interests, and the like, but also on availability
of members of the faculty to provide dissertation supervision. Although
staff research is wide-ranging, it is impossible to guarantee that the
interests of prospective candidates will coincide with the areas of
research of staff members. It is not necessary to approach individual staff members at this stage. Please note that students will not normally
be allowed to enter the programme at any time other than the beginning
of an academic year (i.e. late September).
The GRE General Test is a required
part of the application, except for students who hold a recent MSc in
Economics from UCL, or who are currently enrolled in the UCL MSc
Economics programme. Enclose a copy of your most recent GRE score
report with your application for admission, please.
