Clinical Investigation Centre

cic-main

The Clinical Investigation Centre enhances the Eastman's current clinical research activities.

The Centre is a dedicated clinical facility on the Eastman site, located in Central London. As well as having direct access to patients attending the Eastman Dental Hospital, the Clinical Investigation Centre has established its own database of healthy volunteers.

The Hospital's patient base is derived from a multi-cultural population referred by dentists throughout the Thames basin and from further afield. There are dedicated departments covering every dental specialty.

The Centre has dental chairs, a reception and waiting area, and access to numerous support services on the Eastman site including extensive library and computing facilities and Biostatistics and Informatics. There is also full diagnostic and research laboratory support including histopathology, microbiology, proteomics and electron microscopy.

Why choose the ECIC?

The Eastman is the foremost centre for postgraduate education, training and research in the oral health care sciences in the United Kingdom and has over 50 years of experience in the development and delivery of education and training in all dental specialties. The Eastman Dental Institute is part of University College London, one of Britain's top research universities, and the Eastman Dental Hospital is part of University College London Hospitals NHS Trust, the largest collection of teaching hospitals in the UK. The Eastman has given the highest priority to Good Clinical Practice whilst maintaining its academic excellence and reputation. The Clinical Investigation Centre is separate from the academic and clinical departments, has its own staff and facilities and does not have the day-to-day demands and distractions of students and routine health care services. This structure means we are highly flexible in our approach to performing trials, both in terms of time-scale, cost and staffing. We are able to design and conduct trials to the highest standards with trained dental staff and internationally recognised clinicians and statisticians. Leading academics with track records in research, who have published in peer-review journals, are actively involved in all aspects of trial design, protocol development and clinical assessment. Quality is our first and foremost consideration. We believe that our approach to performing trials and pricing policies mean that we are competitive and able to start, complete, and deliver trials in time-scales comparable with those of the major clinical research organisations.
