Alumna Profile — Professor Kobkan Thongprasom

Professor Kobkan Thongprasom has received many honours in her career, including being appointed to the highest level of Professorship by the Council of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok – the first occasion that this has been achieved within the University’s Faculty of Dentistry. Professor Thongprasom reflects upon her career and time at UCL Eastman Dental Institute.

Independent Article On Postgraduate Study

UCL Eastman Dental Institute PhD student Enas Newire was interviewed recently for The Independent.
Ms Newire is studying for a doctorate in antimicrobial strategies and resistance, under the supervision of Dr Adam Roberts. Dr Roberts' research group, based within the department of Microbial Diseases, focuses on antibiotic resistance and the mobile genetic elements which are often responsible for its transfer between different bacteria. Ms Newire’s project, possible with funding from the Schlumberger Foundation's Faculty for the Future programme, aims to investigate whether common resistance genes in the enteric pathogen Escherichia coli (E. coli) are also found on mobile genetic elements.
