Academic staff
The Eastman’s biggest asset is its academic staff. It's international reputation is maintained through the recruitment and development of outstanding clinicians, teachers and scientists who are at the forefront of their professions. Many hold prominent appointments in international, European and national bodies and specialist societies. Eastman staff hold editorships of many of the leading journals in the field and have authored some of the most important textbooks and research publications.
lecture theatres and seminar rooms
All lecture theatres and seminar rooms are equipped with digital data
projection. Lecture Capture (the facility to record lectures for subsequent access on-line) will be available from the start of the 2011/12 academic year.
Computing facilities
EduRoam (UCL's wireless network), which allows UCL Students and Staff to
connect their own computer to the UCL Network, is available from hot-spots located in
lecture theatres and seminar rooms, throughout all the UCL libraries and in halls of residence. UCL also offers access to computing services from anywhere in the world through a web interface.
Eastman Library
The library is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a wide range of reading material in both print and electronic format.
Facilities include 36 personal computers and various scanners. There is a special computer room equipped for teaching and used for out-of-hours computing access, and a special reading room for quiet study. Students can also access thousands of electronic journals and other resources from home.

Research laboratories
Excellent research facilities are available; the Eastman has over 100 research staff on site and over 1,500m2 of modern, well-equipped research laboratories. The facilities include fully equipped laboratories for molecular biology, proteomics, materials testing, microbiology, tissue and microbial cell culture and controlled environment chambers.
State-of-the-art equipment includes a confocal microscope, flow cytometer, a DNA sequencer, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer, protein micro-purification systems, scanning and transmission electron microscopes, imaging devices, 3D profiling system, and instruments that measure wear, fatigue, stress, erosion and other mechanical properties of materials. The lists are long, reflecting the sophisticated methodologies of the full range of contemporary basic and applied sciences.
In addition to a wealth of research equipment and facilities, the Eastman has invested over £500,000 in the Eastman Library and central information technology equipment available to graduates.
