How to apply

DDent, MClinDent and MSc (full and part-time) programmes

Application deadline for taught Masters programmes commencing September 2012 is 13th January 2012. Applications for MPhil/PhD programmes may be submitted at any time of the year.
Competition for places, especially on the taught Master’s programmes is intense. Formal application is by UCL Application.

On-line applications

Applicants wishing to apply online should note:

1) You will not be able to submit your references directly as part of the on-line application. Instead you will be asked to enter the email address of your proposed referees. They will then be emailed by UCL and asked to complete an online reference form.

All applicants who wish to apply on-line must therefore ensure that their referees have access to email and are willing to complete an on-line reference. If your referees are not able/willing to provide an on-line reference you should make a paper/hard copy application.

2) Applications are only considered complete once the referees have submitted their references. Applicants are therefore advised to apply sufficiently in advance of the application deadline to allow time for their referees to submit their references before the deadline passes. Applications without references will be considered as incomplete and will not be processed.

Applicants applying close to the deadline may therefore prefer to apply in paper/hard copy. Please note that it is the responsibility of the individual applicant to chase their referees for any outstanding references. Neither UCL nor EDI will be able to contact referees in this regard.

3) Applicants applying for more than one programme will be required to make one application per programme at a cost of £60 per application. The application processing fee will need to be paid on-line using a credit/debit card.

Applicants may apply on-line via the form at:

www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate-study/index/graduate-study/application-admission

In addition to completing the form and making your application processing payment on-line, you will need to upload the following documents:

a) Your curriculum vitae.

b) Applicants who have qualified outside the United Kingdom are required to provide an official academic transcript of their undergraduate studies. Where this document is not issued in English an official translation must be provided. If you are also registered with the GDC you should upload a copy of your GDC registration certificate under the 'Transcript 2' heading.

Applicants who qualified within the United Kingdom should upload a copy of their GDC registration certificate under the 'Transcript' heading.

c) Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence that they meet the necessary English language requirements (please note that the EDI requires applicants to have achieved at least a 'good' level in IELTS or TOEFL).

It should be noted that this does not have to be provided at the point of application, but that applications will be strengthened where documentary evidence at the required level is provided at this stage. Full details of how to meet these requirements can be found at:

www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate-study/application-admission/english-language

d) All applicants are required to provide confirmation as to how they will fund their studies. If you are to be sponsored this should take the form of a written confirmation of funding from your sponsors (including the address to which the tuition fee invoice should be sent) or if self-funding, a letter of reference from your bank stating that you are able to finance yourself throughout the course. This documentation should be uploaded under the ‘Additional Documentation’ heading.

Please note that if you wish to include your personal statement separately from the application form you will need to upload this under 'Additional Documentation' as well. In order to do this you will need to merge your personal statement and confirmation of funding into one document. You may therefore prefer to restrict your personal statement to the space given on the application form.

e) An application processing fee of £60, paid on-line via debit/credit card.

Paper/hard copy applications

To apply for an EDI taught Masters programme of study, please submit the following documentation:

a) A completed UCL application form; application forms can be downloaded from:

www.ucl.ac.uk/admission/graduate-study/application-admission

b) Two references.

c) Your curriculum vitae.

d) Confirmation of how you will fund your studies; if sponsored this should take the form of a written confirmation of funding from your sponsors (including the address to which the tuition fee invoice should be sent) or if self-funding, a letter of reference from your bank stating that you are able to finance yourself throughout the programme of study.

e) An application processing fee of £85, either by completion of the payment form contained within the application pack or by inclusion of a banker’s draft in UK Sterling (GBP) made payable to ‘University College London’. Please ensure that your name and programme of study is entered on the reverse of the banker’s draft and that this is attached to the payment form.

Please note that personal cheques will NOT be accepted.

f) Applicants who have qualified outside the United Kingdom are required to provide an official academic transcript of their undergraduate studies. Where this document is not issued in English an official translation must be provided.

g) Applicants for whom English is not their first language must also demonstrate that they meet the necessary English language requirements (please note that the EDI requires applicants to have achieved at least a 'good' level in IELTS or TOEFL). It should be noted that this does not have to be provided at the point of application, but that applications will be strengthened where documentary evidence at the required level is provided at this stage. Full details of how to meet these requirements can be found at:

www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate-study/application-admission/english-language

Applicants for more than one programme must submit duplicate complete applications (one for each programme being applied for), and will have to pay £85 per application (e.g. the charge for applying to two EDI programmes will be £170).
