Invest in your career

There is a national and overseas demand for dental surgeons who are highly knowledgeable in Endodontology and possess specialised clinical skills in Endodontics. The programme prepares students for the MClinDent examination and any future professional evaluation of clinical/academic competence as a specialist. It is also a suitable spring-board for pursuing academic, clinical or research careers in Endodontics.

Specialist Training in Endodontics

Endodontics Specialist Training Programme

The Specialist Training Programme is an intensive full-time programme taken over three calendar years involving both clinical and academic aspects. The MClinDent in Endodontology is taken in the first two years of this London Postgraduate Deanery and Royal College of Surgeons Specialist Advisory Committee approved UK specialist training programme.

In the 3rd year of the training, a typical week consists of four days of clinical training, and the fifth day undertaking didactic courses in aspects of practice management and preparation for the exit examination (MRD) of the Royal College of Surgeons. The final year also provides the opportunity to learn how to run study clubs, courses for general dental practitioners and how to conduct clinical audit.

Those on the specialist training pathway will have the opportunity to consolidate their skills in a practice setting. This phase of training facilitates the trainees to develop greater control and independence in the working environment and provides an opportunity to review their cases pre- and post-treatment.

For applicants outside the European Union the Eastman offers a three year MClinDent in Endodontology (Advanced Training) programme to meet specialist training requirements.
