PhD Successes

Congratulations to Dr Ramine Khan, Dr Abeer Al-Namankany and Dr Gail Martin, who have each recently sucessfully defended their PhD theses at UCL Eastman Dental Institute.

Dr Khan's thesis is entitled The Differential Modulation of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Axl in Human Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Responses to Modified Titanium Surfaces.  He was supervised by Dr Peter Brett, Prof Nikos Donos and Dr Vehid Salih.  The first paper from his work was recently published in the journal Bone.

Dr Al-Namankany's thesis is entitled The Development of a Cognitive Dental Anxiety Scale for Children and Adolescents and Investigation of the Impact of Video Modelling on the Behaviour of Anxious Children Receiving Dental Treatment. Her work was supervised by Dr Paul Ashley and Dr Aviva Petrie.

Dr Martin’s thesis is entitled Development of an Orally Relevant Biofilm Disinfection Model. She was supervised by Dr Jonathan Pratten and Dr Dave Spratt from the Department of Microbial Diseases.
