CPD Requirements
If you are not sure of the requirements for mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all members of the dental team see the General Dental Council's CPD guidance for current registrants
The Eastman’s commitment to widening participation and access to lifelong learning is exemplified through a new range of flexible and modular university accredited programmes offered part-time in state-of-the-art facilities.
More than 2,500 dentists attend Eastman CPD courses annually and dentists increasingly enrol on the popular Restorative Dental Practice programmes which are available at certificate, diploma and masters levels. Online opportunities are also well supported with registered participants of the BDJ Online CPD programme approaching 14,000 and the launch of e-learning programmes in Dental Radiography and Restorative Dentistry. Eastman CPD offers a wide range of on-site opportunities to support all areas of clinical practice from traditional short hands-on courses to innovative CPD challenges. In conjunction with the British Dental Association, Eastman CPD organises an annual Careers’ Day Meeting for newly qualified dentists to highlight the many available opportunities. Eastman CPD can also organise tailor made courses to suit the needs of your group or organisation so please do make contact. Teaching Facilities
Clinical skills laboratories
Three high specification clinical skills laboratories (one equipped with operating microscopes) can accommodate up to 48 participants for hands-on courses. Work stations have flat screen monitors and audiovisual demonstration links.
Lecture / Seminar Rooms
Eastman CPD has four comfortable, air conditioned, seminar rooms (with capacity for 40, 25, 18 and 10). All are equipped with multi-media projection and video conferencing facilities.
Other facilities available to course participants
Course participants are welcome to take advantage of all the UCL Eastman Dental Institute facilities. The Institute also has a well-stocked library which opens 9.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday, as well as computer and Medline search facilities.
The Hospital has a refectory providing hot and cold snacks and there are a number of restaurants and snack bars nearby. A sandwich lunch, however, is often included in the cost of the course.
International Centre for Excellence in Dentistry (ICED)
The ICED was opened in 1999 by HRH The Princess Royal, Chancellor of the University of London. It is the name of the building which is owned by EDI and located at 123 Gray's Inn Road. It accommodates UCL Eastman CPD's activities in dedicated teaching facilities over four floors. Any remaining space in the building is rented to external organisations which are independent of the Eastman.
Facility Hire at Eastman CPD
Eastman teaching facilities incorporating state-of-the-art technology are available for hire at competitive rates on an evening, sessional or daily basis.
