Application guidelines (CPD short courses)

If you are considering applying to a CPD course at UCL Eastman Dental Institute, please read carefully the following application process guidelines.

Identify the course you wish to study

The CPD homepage lists all CPD courses that are currently available.  If you are interested in a longer study programme leading to a degree qualification, please visit the Education homepage.

Check the entry requirements

Each individual course page provides detailed information on the course, including a summary of the course's structure and content, and clear information about who the course is for and who is eligible to partake.

Please read this information thoroughly, and contact the course administrator if you have any questions.  Contact details are different for each course, and are specified on each course page.

Check the application deadline

Application deadlines vary by course and are detailed on the individual course page.  Please apply as soon as possible.  Courses can fill up before the deadline, and your place can only be reserved once we have successfully received your application and payment.

Submit your application

Currently the Institute only accepts applications by post or fax.

  • To pay by cheque:
    Enclose your cheque – payable to University College London – with your application form.  Return the form by post.
  • To pay by credit or debit card:
    Include your card details on the application form.  Return the form by post, or fax it to +44 (0) 20 7905 1267.

Please ensure that your form and payment are accurate and complete.  Incomplete forms, incorrect payment details, incorrect payment amounts and otherwise failed payments will delay your application and may lead to you missing out on a place.

Await confirmation

Your place will only be reserved once a complete application has been received and payment has been taken.  Once this has been done, you will be sent confirmation of your place by email.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancellation by the candidate

If you wish to cancel your place on a course, you must submit your request in writing.  If the request is received no later than 21 days prior to the start of the course, you will be refunded the full course fee minus an administration charge.

Where the initial fee payment was made by cheque or debit card, the administration charge will be £18.75.  Where the initial fee payment was made by credit card, the administration charge will be 3.5% of the course fee (to a minimum of £18.75) – this is to cover the fees charged by the credit card companies to process the payment and refund.

If the request is received later than 21 days prior to the start of the course, you will not be refunded unless the course place is subsequently filled.  Such a refund would be subject to the administration charges above.

The Head of Continuing Professional Development will consider extraordinary circumstances of late cancellations, primarily by offering a place on a later course or by holding the course fee as a credit for subsequent courses.

Cancellation by the Institute

The Institute endeavours to run all advertised courses on the dates advertised, but reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any course at short notice and for any reason.  In such instances, all candidates will be notified by email and will be eligible for a full refund of the course fee.
