Oral Health and Performance in Sport – Learning from London 2012

Poor oral health impacts on elite athlete performance. This symposium aims to deliver a legacy from the London 2012 Olympics by bringing together experts from the fields of sports medicine and oral health.

Topics include:

  • What do we know about oral health and performance of elite athletes?
  • What are the causes of poor oral health of elite athletes?
  • How does poor oral health affect performance?
  • What can be done to improve oral health and minimise impact on performance?

All the sessions will finish with a panel discussion and delegates will have the opportunity to input into a consensus statement on the future direction of oral health and sport, which will be developed throughout the day.
