ORE Part 2: Dental Manikin Mock Examination

A one day course where students experience exam conditions.  A morning mock examination (where students undertake three of the prescribed tasks,) followed by an afternoon of individual feedback and further revision practice.

What will I learn?

The course provides students with the opportunity to practice for the ORE Part 2 Dental Manikin examination in similar conditions to the examination itself, undertaking three of the prescribed tasks. Students then receive individual feedback on their performance and have time to practice any of the tasks (or others.)

Why should I study this course at the Institute?

The course gives the valuable experience of testing their practical and time-management skills under the pressure of exam conditions.  The afternoon session allows students to practice in well-equipped, state-of-the-art skills laboratories and receive specific feedback from experienced staff.

Availability: One full day.

Verifiable CPD: 6.5 hours.

Core content

Morning session: mock examination

  • Students undertake three of the twenty tasks prescribed for the ORE Part 2 Dental Manikin examination, under exam conditions.
  • As with the real examination, students are not given advance notice of which three tasks will be tested, and are expected to be proficient in all areas.

Afternoon session: feedback and practice

  • Students receive individual feedback on their performance in the mock examination.
  • Following the feedback, they are then free to practice any task(s) of their choosing.

The course is delivered by experienced UCL Eastman Dental Institute staff and any feedback given represents their interpretation of the ORE syllabus and GDC regulations for the Dental Manikin examination.  They are not current ORE Examiners, and their opinions may not exactly replicate those of the ORE Examiners.
