A comprehensive and essential radiography update is available at www.dentalradiography.co.uk and meets all the legal requirements for five yearly continuation training as laid down in the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000. Delivered in five modules, this interactive e-learning course is suitable for all members of the dental team.
Radiography Training: Ionising Radiation Regulations
The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 introduced
a recommended requirement for all UK dental staff operating radiography
equipment to undertake continuing education and training by completing
a minimum of 5 hours verifiable CPD in Dental Radiology every 5
years and holding the appropriate certification.
Eastman CPD is responding by offering a comprehensive course in
Dental Radiography in a convenient easily accessed format designed
to meet the needs of busy practitioners and fulfil the requirements
of both the IR(ME)R and Health and Safety Inspectorates.
The programme will consist of 5 one-hour modules, which can be downloaded from the internet or viewed from a CD-rom. The course has been developed by Colin Cook (Specialist in Dental Radiology) and is designed to cover all of the essential elements of Dental Radiography in an interesting and informative manner, with a strong clinical bias.
This essential information is presented in an interactive format that is designed to engage the viewer and stimulate interest whilst providing tips and answers to frequently asked questions. The programme is aimed at all members of the dental team and will review and consolidate on existing knowledge whilst stimulating interest in more advanced elements of dental imaging.
The first four modules cover general principles and practices applicable to dental radiography and are non-specific in terms of regulatory requirements and associated national standards.
The statutory requirements for dental practice in the United Kingdom are covered in the final element and once the full course has been completed it will satisfy the 5 yearly radiography update training requirement stipulated in the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000.
