Miss Angelica Bartolettiwas awarded the Scanning Probe Microscopy Poster Prize at the Microscience Microscopy Congress 2014, held in Manchester earlier this month.

Miss Bartoletti is a PhD student in UCL Eastman Dental Institute's department of Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering, under the supervision of Dr Laurent Bozec and Professor Jonathan Knowles.  She was awarded the 2014 SPM Poster Prize for her poster entitled A novel approach to parchment damage assessment at the nanoscale.

The aim of her study was to design a new protocol to perform a damage assessment of collagen within parchment artefacts at the nanoscale using Atomic Force Microscopy and Localised Thermal Analysis.

The Microscience Microscopy Congress is an international conference and exhibition organised by the Royal Microscopical Society.
